Coyena Comics

The Stories

Coyena Comics are a series of short stories involving Walden’s family of coyenas: coyote-hyena hybrids loving in a world where both science and magic are abundant and allow for various size-changing shenanigans. Among the principle players:

• Zephyrus, the oldest son (32), a gym manager and part-time guitar and ukulele player, something of a “gentle giant”
• Austeria, the middle sister (28), a friendly, nerdy powerhouse to works in the sciences but loves gaming and comics
• Eurus, the youngest son (24), a former semi-pro skateboarder and street artist, and total hornball
• Boreas, the father (57), kind but somewhat distracted, he’s built like a refrigerator thanks go growing up on a farm, but made his name in the sciences
• Aura, the mother (55), a no-nonsense businesswoman, but also compassionate and adventuresome
• Notus, the cousin (21), shy but loving, who lives on the same farm his Uncle Boreas where grew up

Each story is different. In Kaiju Attack!, a mad scientist releases disgruntled giant monsters on the city, and Zephyrus and Austeria have to use their growth powers to try to take them on. Small Business Growth! involves Zephyrus meeting up with his long-time friend Branko Stroganov at a restaurant location he’s working on; their amorous rendezvous ends with some minor property destruction when Zephyrus’ growth device accidentally triggers. How I Met Your Coyena Father! flashes back to reveal how Boreas and Aura first met when an experiment on a crystal with strange properties goes off the rails. And Reefer Bigness! shows Eurus meeting up with his old high school friend Benny Cheetah to share some weed that proves to have expansive properties.

So far most of the Coyena Comics have debuted on my Patreon. How I Met Your Coyena Father! is still archived there, and as of January 2026 Reefer Bigness! is about halfway completed, with more stories to follow. Printed Comics

So far the first two stories, Kaiju Attack! and Small Business Growth! have been publishes as print editions. You can buy them at the Toon Raccoon Publications table at conventions I attend, or a limited quantity are available to order from Furplanet.

How I Met Your Coyena Father! is scheduled to be printed in spring of 2026, and Reefer Bigness! later in the year. At this time they are not available digitally, but I will make announcements when they are!
